I recently started metal detecting as a hobby and found several old coins buried in a park. They are dirty and corroded. What’s the best way for a beginner to identify them without damaging them further?

Metal detecting finds can be exciting but identifying them is the tricky part. After cleaning them gently, I recommend using a free coin identifier app. You take clear photos and the app quickly tells you the country, approximate age, and potential value.
